How You Can Say Goodbye to Your Self-Limiting Thoughts About Money Forever!
This blog post is the 5th in a series of our “Mind Over Money Series”. which I will be writing in the next 10 months. I believe that having the right mindset is extremely important in reaching the financial freedom we’ve all been searching for.
The abundance in this world we live in has more than enough resources for each and every person on this planet to live the life of their dreams! Yes, that means all 7 plus billion of us, including the many billions of humans that have lived in history combined.
So why do over 95% of humans never achieve the life of their dreams? Is it because they have had their once fertile mind corrupted by extremely self-limiting thoughts about money and its purpose in our lives? Let’s go down a few areas of thinking about money that has had a negative impact on our lives.
Whoever told you that money was evil? One could argue that the Christian scriptures discuss the love of money as a root of all evil! Now that is a different discussion if you consider that money is the end game! The problem with most people is that their misconceptions about money for religious reasons have created very strong limiting beliefs about money.
It could be said that a strong religious faith does not prompt people to pursue money, but does this religious faith also prompt you to pursue poverty? I do not think so!
The reason is clear, if you are to help those in need, you cannot be the one in need.
You need to be in a position of financial strength to truly help those on their journey in finding their life’s purpose. This is true no matter what your religious persuasion or belief is. This idea crosses all religions and faiths.
It does not matter if you are in an hourly wage, a commission situation, or even self-employed if your beliefs about money limit you in letting as much of it flowing into your life as possible. We have discussed that if you could do anything, get anything and are anything and money was never the problem, then would you quit pursuing money? Of course, you would! There would be no need to pursue it!
We will discuss this more in another article but for now, understand that having lots of money is not the end game. Having enough money to accomplish what you desire in life to achieve ultimate happiness is the end game. In reality, if you do not design the life you desire and go about creating it, maybe you are violating your own religious faith by not being a good steward of your one and only life.
Let’s take a look at a few self-limiting thoughts about money and dispel them. The first is that getting lots of money flowing into your life is somehow evil. I would suggest that if you sabotage your success by thinking that too much money is bad, it may be counterproductive in fulfilling your religious beliefs to help others. You would also be the one in need!
There is nothing beneficial in self-sacrifice because self-interest has been able to raise the quality of life of more people in the world that self-sacrifice. You need to strongly consider this! The way that money flows to do the most good at the best time is for people with self-interest to quit worrying about how much money comes to them.
It is because of self-interest that capitalism in a free market works. This is not the same as self-centeredness. Self-centeredness is all about self-limiting thoughts about money. Self-interest tells you that it is in your best interest to make as much money as possible by providing the best value product or service to those who pay you for that value.
If you are a religious person who is instructed to help feed the poor, clothe the less fortunate and improve the quality of life of as many people as possible, then you need to ask yourself a few questions. Which form of economic activity has improved the quality of life of more people throughout history?
Was it capitalism, socialism or communism? The resounding answer to this question is capitalism working its way through free markets. If you want to help the most people in your life, then you need to get your self-interest in high gear. Get rid of that self-limiting thoughts and allow as much money to flow into your life as possible. It is the only godly thing to do.
Well-intentioned family and friends!
There are other limiting factors such as self-doubt about yourself that has been ingrained in you by well-meaning family and friends. You know, those family members that convey that “we have always been poor and that is just the way it is”. You need to simply break away from these bad attitudes that have been woven into the fabric of your life.
Many times, it is family members (maybe you have done this to your family members) that tell you in many different ways that you cannot achieve or be what you desire to be or achieve. They may never actually say it in those terms, but your family and friends have the power in your life to make sure you do not surpass mediocrity.
It can be said that we obtain the level of success to the degree of our four or five closest friends or family members. If that is true then you need to find the most financially successful people and make them your best friends.
We are our own worst enemy!
Lastly, it is our own cluttered mind that allows us to limit our own success. We try all kinds of new courses, and money-making programs only to be disappointed by the results. Is it because our own mindset has been so muddied up with debris that anything that could help us gets caught in the mud of our minds?
You are going to have to clean out your mind first. There is only one program I know of that will give you the mental strength and clarity you need to see the real problems that are holding you back from achieving the life of your dreams.
